PURPOSE: To provide a photoreceptor excellent in photosensitivity, durability and environmental stability and having satisfactory photosensitivity over a wide range from a visible light region to a near IR region.

CONSTITUTION: This photoreceptor contains a gallium phthalocyanine compd. and a perylene compd. represented by formula I or an anthanthrone compd. represented by formula II as carrier generating materials in the photosensitive layer. In the formula I, each of A1, A1', A2 and A2' is a divalent arom. hydrocarbon group or a divalent heterocyclic group contg. an N atom in the ring. In the formula II, X is halogen, nitro, cyano, acyl or carboxy and (n) is an integer of 0-4.
