Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the stability of an engine in a reverse rotation control of reversely rotating a crankshaft to a prescribed position just after the stop of the engine to prepare for the following engine starting.
SOLUTION: This control device comprises reverse rotation control means for starting the reveres current-carrying to a starter motor after the stop of the engine, crank angle detecting means for detecting that the reversely rotating crankshaft attains a top dead center-corresponding angle, and a reverse rotation load detecting means for detecting the reverse rotation load of the crankshaft. The reverse rotation control means terminates the reverse current-carrying in response to the earlier one of the detection of the attainment to the top dead center-corresponding angle of the crankshaft by the crank angle detecting means [mark X on the curve A of Fig. 6 (c)] and the detection of a rise of reverse rotation load by the reverse rotation load detecting means [mark X on the curve B of Fig. 6 (c)].
