Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavator for a tunnel having a rectangular section, by which long distance construction is enabled, and rolling is prevented and the direction is controlled to advance in the tunnel with good accuracy and efficiently.
SOLUTION: A left cutter head 4 and a right cutter head 5 formed by projecting cutting blades 4a for excavating the left half part and the right half part of the front ground of an opening part on both side parts of the opening end of a skin plate 1 having a rectangular section, which is an excavator main body, are arranged so as to freely reciprocate in the lateral direction in such a manner that the left cutter head 4 takes the cylinder part of a driving jack 7 of the right cutter head 5 as a guide, and the right cutter head 5 takes the cylinder part of a driving jack 6 of the left cutter head 4 as a guide. By the right and left cutter heads 4, 5, the front ground of the skin plate 1 is excavated in the lateral direction extending over the total height of the skin plate 1 to advance the tunnel part having a rectangular section, or advance with the left end part front ground or the right end part front ground of the skin plate left behind, thereby controlling the direction of the tunnel excavator.
