Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the controllability of an exhaust-gas recycling valve by providing the diaphragm type control device of the exhaust-gas recycling valve with a second control chamber into which exhaust pressure from an exhaust pipe is introduced as control pressure, in addition to a first control chamber into which intake negative pressure is introduced.

CONSTITUTION: This pneumatic control device for an exhaust-gas recycling valve has first and second control chambers 1, 2 separated by a first diaphragm 3 and the wall of the first control chamber 1 opposite to the diaphragm 3 is formed by a large diameter second diaphragm 4. A first compression spring 5 is interposed between the diaphragms 3, 4 and a valve element 6 coupled to the second diaphragm 4 is urged in the closing direction. A second compression spring 7 which can adjust spring forces by use of an adjustment screw 8 is enclosed in the second control chamber 2, its spring force being imparted to the diaphragm 3. Suction negative pressure and exhaust-pipe pressure are introduced, respectively, into the first chamber 1 via a connection 9 and the second control chamber 2 via a connection 10 to control the aperture of the valve element 6.
