PURPOSE: To enable high speed rotation and setting of free stroke of a cutter table and compact by rotating to drive a feed shaft and providing a synchronous phase adjusting mechanism changing rotating phase in a facting unit.

CONSTITUTION: A feed shaft 21 is rotatably retained on a shaft core unit of a rotary sleeve 8 by a bearing 22 made of metal fit to the sleeve. And when a feed drive shaft 34 directly connected to a wave generator 40 is fixed, the feed shaft 21 rotates at an equal speed synchronously with a face plate 1 completely and a cutter table 2 maintains its position without moving in the diameter direction on the face plate 1. When the feed drive shaft 34 is rotated by a feed drive motor 35, the cutter table 2 on the face plate 1 is to be fed to the diameter direction in correspondence with the rotation of the feed drive shaft. Thus, high speed rotation can be made and stroke of the cutter table can be set freely, and compact facing unit can be made.
