PURPOSE: To attain the mixture of a graphic pattern signal and a character code signal in the same page by synthesizing a character pattern signal obtained from the character code signal based on position information and the graphic pattern signal, converting the result into a facsimile signal and sending it to a facsimile terminal equipment.

CONSTITUTION: A control section 21 forms a synthesized image plane 5 corresponding to one image plane based on a received text 6 on a synthesized image plane storage section 24. With respect to the graphic pattern area 51, a graphic pattern data string 62 is written on an area in the synthesized image plane storage section 24 corresponding to the pattern area specified by in image plane location information 61. With respect to the character area 52, a character code string 64 is converter into the character pattern signal by a code pattern converting section 23 and the character pattern data is written in the area in the synthesized image plane storage section 24 corresponding to the pattern area specified by the in-image plane location information 63. The synthesized image plane for one page formed in this way is converted into a facsimile signal by a facsimile control section 25 and sent to terminal equipment 4.
