PURPOSE: To obtain a fibrillated fiber or web which can be treated by a simple method, is similar to a natural fiber due to the fine fibrils produced after split, can express a spun-like touch having soft, swollen and warm touches, and is excellent in an antipilling property and an abrasion whitening-resistant property.
CONSTITUTION: A conjugate fiber is produced by joining a component (A) comprising a low viscosity polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.48-0.60 to a component (B) comprising a polyester having larger solubility than that of the component A in the (A)/(B) weight ratio of 2/1 to 10/1, and has 32 or more layers. A fibrillated fiber or web having fine fibrils is produced by dissolving off a component (B) from a conjugated fiber.
