PURPOSE: To contrive to take the image of flame exactly before the flame grows, by a method wherein the size of the flame is detected through a flame image, taken by a zoom type monitoring camera, and wherein flame size signal is transmitted to a control section, and wherein the scale of the flame size signal is discriminated by the control section, and wherein zoom control signal according to the flame size is transmitted to a camera controlling section.
CONSTITUTION: A zoom type monitoring camera is zoom/wide-controlled by driving signal (e) from a camera controlling section 4. In a flame size detecting section 2, flame image signal (a) fed from the zoom type monitoring camera 1 is taken by image taking-in timing signal (b) from a control section 3, and the size of flame is discriminated, and flame size signal (c) is transmitted to the control section 3. From the control section 3, to the flame size detecting section 2, on specified timing, the image taking-in timing signal (b) is transmitted, and the size of the obtained flame size signal (c) is confirmed, and if the size is smaller than the specified size, control signal (d) as zoom command signal is transmitted to the camera controlling section 4. Even the flame of a small fire source at the time of the start of fire can be certainly detected, and the fire can be extinguished before the flame grows.
