To provide a fire extinguishing gel excellent in fire extinguishing performance, capable of keeping the fire extinguishing performance for a long period, and easily disposable after use.
This fire extinguishing gel contains a water absorptive resin having a liquid absorbing magnification, for example, to calcium chloride saturated aqueous solution of 5g/g or more, deliquescent material such as calcium chloride, and water. The water absorptive resin is more preferably a crosslinked polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing a (meth) acrylate monomer represented by the formula, CH2=CR-CO-(X)n-Y (wherein R represents H or methyl group, X represents an oxyalkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms in which the molar fraction of oxyethylene group to the total oxyalkylene group is 50% or more, Y represents an alkoxy group having 1-5 carbon atoms, a phenoxy group, or an oxyalkylphenyl group having 1-3 alkyl groups having 1-9 carbon atoms as substituent, and (n) represents a positive number of 3-100 in average).
