To prevent a toner from remaining on a surface and wax from remaining thereon for a long period of time and to suppress the adhesion of paper dust etc., to the surface and to suppress reforming of the surface due to a thermal histeresis, as regards a fixing belt etc., to apply heat and pressure to the unfixed toner image of a recording medium carrying the unfixed toner image by that the surface of the recording medium comes into contact with the unfixed toner image.
