Abstract:

To provide a fixing device by which image gloss equivalent to the initial period can be obtained even after a fixing body is used for a long period of time and an image forming apparatus provided with the fixing device.

In the fixing device, control is carried out so that specified fixing conditions in regard to the glossiness of a fixed image such as the temperature of a fixing roll 51 when fixing and the pressurizing contact force between the fixing roll 51 and a press roll 52 are set corresponding to the surface glossiness detected by a glossiness detecting means 80 detecting the surface glossiness of at least one of the fixing roll 51 or the press roll 52.
