Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a curable epoxy resin improved in elasticity by combining a specific secondary amine curing agent with a phenol type polyglycidyl ether and an acrylate-terminated urethane prepolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A curable epoxy resin is prepared by combining (C) a secondary amine curing agent represented by the formula (wherein R is a 2-20C alkylene or polyalkylenepolyamine) with (A) 40-100 pts.wt. polyglycidyl ether of a phenol having a terminal 1,2-epoxy group and (B) 10-40 pts.wt. of a urethane prepolymer having a terminal acrylate group. The component C is a polymethylated amine curing agent having two H-atoms reactive with epoxide and contains 0.6-1.5 (desirably 0.9-1.1) equivalent of amine hydrogen per one equivalent of the component reacting with amine hydrogen atoms in the components A and B. By this compounding, an epoxy resin having high elastomeric properties is obtained. As the component C,N,N'-dimethylethanediamine or the like is exemplified. This epoxy resin is useful as a civil engineering casting mold and a coating.
