Abstract:

To prevent deflection of the sliding contact face of a front cover due to the welding of the front cover to an impeller shell.

The front cover 11 has integrated therewith a radial flange part 44 which extends radially, and an axial flange part 42 which extends axially from an outer peripheral end of the radial flange part 44. The radial flange part 44 has on its axial face a sliding contact face 44a for making contact with a frictional facing 76. The axial flange part 42 has a connection 51 with the radial flange part 44 at one end and has a welded part connected to a pump impeller by welding at the other. The axial flange part 42 is so formed that an area 49 containing the welded part is lower in rigidity than an area 48 containing the connection.
