To provide a stator for a torque converter having a structure of good productivity and increasing a flow cross-sectional area to enhance the performance of the torque converter.
The stator for a torque converter comprises an annular shell, an annular core positioned radially outside of the shell, and a plurality of stator blades extended between the shell and the core and circumferentially equally spaced apart from one another, and is positioned between an impeller and a turbine. The stator blade includes a leading edge adjacent to the turbine, a trailing edge adjacent to the impeller, a low pressure face formed of a projecting streamlined curved face extended between the leading edge and the trailing edge and facing the impeller, and a high pressure face formed of a recessed streamlined curved face extending between the leading edge and the trailing edge and facing the turbine. The stator blade is so formed that its cross-sectional area gradually increases from the core side to the shell side of the stator. The stator blades are arranged not to overlap each other in their axial direction.
