Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain foamed building material which is comparatively lightweight, excellent in heat insulating properties and free from water absorption properties and also has the surface difficult to slip and high strength and is excellent in dimensional precision.
CONSTITUTION: Foamed building material is produced by using clay and feldspar as a raw material and constituting the same of at least two layers of both a surface layer consisting of a foaming layer whose pores are closed pores and a base layer consisting of an unfoaming layer and grinding or polishing the surface of this foaming layer. The foaming raw material is obtained by mixing 60-10 pts.wt. clay, 40-90 pts.wt. feldspar and ≤2 pts.wt. component for generating gas. A sintered body having the foaming layer and the unfoamed layer is produced by laminating the foaming raw material and the unfoaming raw material in a laminar shape and molding both raw materials and thereafter burning this molded body. Then the surface of the foaming layer of this sintered body is ground or polished. The foamed building material is excellent in heat insulating properties because the foaming layer in the sintered body obtained by burning is a porous body. Moreover this foaming layer has closed pores (isolated pores, closed pores) and is a lightweight layer whose water absorption properties are almost regulated to zero.
