PURPOSE: To strongly press and hold a foil yarn using warp yarns in a crossed state by elevating rods of lower warp yarns between pressing healds and drawing healds on beating while pressing the foil yarn.

CONSTITUTION: A foil yarn 5 inserted into a shed is pressed down to a position of lower warp yarns 2 by foil yarn-pressing yarns 3 composed of upper warp yarns 1 moved down using pressing healds 6. The foil yarn 5 is then lifted by the lower warp yarns 2 when rods 8 for the foil yarn, lifting the lower warp yarns 2 are elevated, e.g. by movement of a crank rod 10. The foil yarn- pressing yarn 3 and the foil yarn-lifting yarn 4 are mutually crossed and bent while sandwiching the foil yarn 5. The foil yarn can be prevented from turning inside out with ease thereby.
