Abstract:
A forest resources information calculation method has: a research subject forest area image data creation process (Step S30) for creating research subject forest area image data on the basis of three-dimensional point group data and geographical information; a tree crown height image data creation processing step (Step S40) for creating tree crown height image data indicating, as a tree crown height, a height of a tree crown of each tree which exists in the research target forest area; and a layer-basis tree top extraction processing step (Step S50) for extracting, at a time when the layer having a maximum tree crown height out of the tree crown heights acquired from the tree crown height image data is set as a first layer, and a plurality of layers each having a layer width of a predetermined length with the maximum tree crown height as a start point are set from the first layer toward a ground surface, a tree top of the tree crown such that a tree top exists in each layer including the first layer for each layer. Even in a forest having different standing tree densities and large and small tree heights and tree crowns, it is possible to calculate forest resources information with high accuracy.
