Title:
FORMATION OF CERAMIC COATING FILM BY SPARK DISCHARGE ON ANODE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0394077
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a metallic material with a ceramic coating film having high insulating property, high hardness and various color tones by suspending fine ceramic particles in an aq. soln. contg. silicate and/or oxyacid salt and by causing spark discharge.

CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. contg. water soluble or colloidal silicate and/or oxyacid salt such as tungstate, stannate, molybdate or borate is prepd. in an electrolytic bath. Fine particles of ceramics, e.g. oxide ceramics such as Al2O3 or SiO2 or nonoxide ceramics such as SiC, TiN or WC are suspended in the aq. soln. Spark discharge is caused on the anode in the resulting aq. suspension by impressing DC voltage and a ceramic coating film is formed.
