PURPOSE: To faithfully reproduce an image by burying toner in recesses formed on the surface of an image forming medium for holding toner, and then bringing the medium into contact with an intermediate transferring medium to transfer the toner image onto the surface of the transferring medium.
CONSTITUTION: Toner T is buried in recesses 2 for holding toner of a halftone printing plate 1 by a blade 7 while rotating the plate 1 of first color, such as cyan color. Then, the halftone plate 1 is pressed in contact with a rubber roller 8 in a freely rotatable state. Then, the roller 8 is rotatably driven to transfer cyan toner T to the surface of the roller 8. Then, the roller 8 is separated from the halftone plate 1, a transferring sheet 15 is disposed on the roller 8 to press a heating roller 11 in contact therewith, an to rotatably drive the roller 8. Then, the cyan toner image on the roller 8 is transferred onto the sheet 15, and fixed by the heat and pressure of the roll 11.
