A fragrance applying mechanism provided on the post stage of a platen 12 and a thermal head 13 of this printer is provided with a fragrance tank 10 equipped altogether with four fragrance bottles 8 filled with four kinds of fragrance materials so as to be operated corresponding to a fragrance applying instruction inputted from external POS terminal equipment 1 and selectively apply different kinds of the fragrances from an integrally provided nozzle 9 to the receipt paper 14, and a shaft 11 passed through the tank 10 and the respective bottles 8, enabling the application of the selected fragrance to the entire surface of the receipt paper 14 by freely moving the tank 10 in a receipt width direction perpendicular to a receipt moving direction, inclining the selected one of the respective bottles 8 and bringing the pertinent nozzle 9 close to the receipt paper 14.
