To provide a fuel cell which can supply a liquid fuel uniformly and efficiently and can improve an output.
The fuel cell includes a fuel electrode, an electrolyte membrane which is arranged neighboring with the fuel electrode and transmits cations from the fuel electrode, an oxidant electrode which is arranged to face the fuel electrode with the electrolyte membrane in-between and makes the cations transmitting the electrolyte membrane reacted with the cations, a fuel supplying mechanism for supplying the liquid fuel to the fuel electrode, and a fuel diffusion layer which is arranged on a side of the fuel supplying mechanism and a fuel absorbing layer arranged on a side of the fuel electrode, both arranged between the fuel electrode and the fuel supplying mechanism. The fuel absorbing layer has a plurality of layers having different wettabilities against the liquid fuel in a thickness direction, and a layer arranged on the side of the fuel electrode is made of a material having a higher wettability than that of the layer arranged on the side of the fuel diffusion layer and, moreover, can impregnate more liquid fuel in itself than the fuel diffusion layer.
