The fuel composition for the switching type engine of premixed compression self-ignition combustion and compression self-ignition diesel combustion has ≤8 mass ppm sulfur content, a cetane number of 35 to 50, ≥152°C initial boiling point, ≤310°C 90 vol% distilling temperature, ≤260°C average value of a 10 vol% distilling temperature, a 50 vol% distilling temperature and a 90 vol% distilling temperature, 3 to 13 vol% total aromatic component, a hydrogen/carbon ratio (H/C ratio) of 1.90 or more and 100 to 500 mass ppm lubricity improver content.
