To lengthen the service life of a fuel injection valve by minimizing influence of lateral directional force on a valve needle.
This fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine has a casing 1, and a valve piston 30. The piston-like valve needle 10 is arranged in the casing 1 so as to be slidable in the lengthwise direction. The valve needle controls at least one injection opening 16 by a fuel chamber side end part by lengthwise directional motion. The valve piston 30 is almost coaxially arranged with respect to the valve needle 10 in a piston hole 26 of the casing 1, and is slidably arranged in the lengthwise direction, and abuts on the valve needle 10 by interposing a pressure member 32 in which the outer peripheral surface thereof is formed in a cylindrical shape. The pressure member 32 is guided in a guide sleeve 36 arranged in a fixed position in the casing 1.
