PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily wash and remove a a salt with water or hot water without requiring the use of a detergent for degreasing, such as 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and to prevent the corrosion of a heater and equipment materials by the salt without carrying the salt into a heating chamber for gas carbonitriding by executing quenching and tempering by the salt.
CONSTITUTION: A carrying device 1, a front chamber 2, the heating chamber 6 for gas carbonitriding, a salt bath chamber 7 and an ejection device 9 are connected and installed horizontally in one array. The ejection device 9 has long hooks 11 to prevent the carry over of the salt into the heating chamber 6 for gas carbonitriding. The hooks 11 are washed by every batch treatment. The salt bath chamber 7 has a jacket in such a manner that its temp. can be controlled. A work 3 15 cooled after salt quenching and is then immersed again into the salt bath, by which the work is subjected to a tempering treatment. The salt sticking to the work 3 is washed away by washing the work 3 with the water or hot water.
