Title:
GAS COMPRESSION TYPE VIBRATION ISOLATION MECHANISM DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2707206
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To absorb the seismatic vibration energy and prevent collapse of a building due to an earthquake, by fitting a compressed gas damper in which an inert gas is charged at the bottom or toe building ana attaching a grooved guide rant and a steel ball at the movable part of the side face of the building.
CONSTITUTION: A compressed gas damper 2 in which an inert gas 9 is enclosed in a cylinder 8 is fixed at the bottom of a building 1. A grooved guide rail 3 and a steel ball 4 are attached at the vertically movable part at the side face of the building. The weight of building 1 is transmitted to the ground through a piston rod 6 and a piston 7 and further, through the inert gas 9. The side face of the building 1 is made movable against the ground and hence, the shock of an earthquake is absorbed and the building 1 is prevented from collapsing owing to the contractive action of the inert gas 9 against the vertical vibratory shock at an earthquake. The lateral vibration energy and the diaginal energy due to the lateral and diagonal seismic shock is converted to the vertical movement of the building and the impulsive force is damped down.
