To provide a gasket including a sealing layer having improved water resistance; and further a gasket including a sealing layer having low creep, in which reduction of stress retention is minimized.
The gasket comprises a sealing layer and a support layer. The sealing layer is formed from a resilient material and a hydrolysis-resistant polymer, where the resilient material comprises a chemically exfoliated vermiculite (CEV) component in a proportion of at least 25 wt.% of the sealing layer, the CEV component is at least partially derived from dry CEV; the hydrolysis-resistant polymer improves water resistance of the sealing layer, the proportion of the polymer does not exceed 20 wt.% of the sealing layer.
