PURPOSE: To provide a simply structured, small sized and inexpensive gate valve.

CONSTITUTION: A gate valve is provided with a housing 11 wherein an opening section communicating to a vacuum chamber is formed, a sealing member 1 fittedly secured in the outer periphery of the opening section 12 of the housing 11, a guide 15 provided in the opening face of the housing 11 so as to surround the opening section 12, and a slider 16 which is formed in the guide 15 so as to open and close the opening section 12, slidably caulked with the guide 15. In addition, the gate valve is provided with a drive member 22 to slide the slider 16 in a cross direction, and an energizing mechanism to energize the slider 16 toward the opening face of the housing 11 with the slider 16 inserted at a specified position of the guide.
