Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel food which is suited for an infant to accumulate experience in scooping the food with a spoon and bringing the food to the mouth, which maintains intrinsic physical properties of the gel food, and which scarcely falls down from the spoon when scooped therewith.SOLUTION: A premix for a gel food is provided. When a gel food including water of 83 wt.% based on the total weight of the gel food is prepared by dissolving the premix in a liquid component and subsequently cooling the dissolved premix, then 2-3 g of the gel food is scooped with a spoon, and then the spoon is inclined by 40° toward the horizontal plane, the time period required for falling down of the gel food is 10 seconds or more. The premix for a gel food may optionally include a thickening agent and a gelatinizing agent for the purpose of making the gel food scarcely fall down from the spoon.
