PURPOSE: To enable production of glass-coated metal material having stable qualities of vitreous coating films by applying and calcining twice a soln. containing an org. metal compd. and a fine org. powder of specified particle diameter.

CONSTITUTION: A fine org. powder of 10-100μm particle diameter is mixed with a soln. containing an org. metal compd., applied on the surface of a metal base material, and calcined to form a first coating layer. Further, a superfine org. powder of ≤5μm particle diameter is mixed with a soln. containing an org. metal compd., applied on the first coating layer, and calcined to form a second coating layer. The first vitreous coating layer is thick but hardly breaks, which prevents the reduction of strength of the product. The second coating layer is made thin to improve the surface smoothness. Thereby, the obtd. product can be suitable for such use for chemical reaction chamber, storage tank, tubes, etc., to be used under a severe corrosive environment.
