Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress short-circuiting of a glow plug and degradation of a resistance heating element when being used with an inner temperature around the resistance heating element during afterglow at a high temperature of 1200°C or more.SOLUTION: A glow plug 10 includes a heater having: a cylindrical sheath pipe 810 whose tip end is closed; a resistance heating element 820 arranged inside the sheath pipe; and insulation powder 840 arranged around the resistance heating element inside the sheath pipe. Here, the resistance heating element is formed of an alloy containing Al, and the insulation powder contains at least one kind of oxide selected from MgO, CrO3, Cr2O3, SnO, FeO, Fe3O4, MnO, MnO2, Mn2O3, Mn3O4, SiO2, WO2, TiO2, Ti2O3, and ZrO2. Further, when defining A mass% as an Al content in the resistance heating element and S mass% as a content of the oxide in the insulation powder in terms of oxide, the relationship 0.04≤S/A≤0.31 is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
