To provide a fiber coated with gold by an electroless gold-plating technique or a structure thereof, which has a good adhesiveness of a gold coated layer to the fiber, especially to an industrial fiber, without having an etching step deteriorating the strength of an organic fiber, and environment- or a human-friendly, since without using a toxic cyanide compound.
The gold coated fiber or the structure thereof is produced by applying a coating agent on the surface of the fiber, polymerizing the coated fiber, then immersing the fiber in platinum-based colloidal solution, and then immersing the fiber in a gold-plating bath containing hydrogen peroxide and a gold (III) halide to precipitate gold particles on the surface of the fiber. In order to express the adhesion of the plated layer, since the fiber treated with the coating agent in advance is used, in the gold coated fiber or the structure thereof, the surface of the fiber and the gold coated layer adhere to each other through a coated layer and the strength retention of the fiber is high, because the method does not include the etching step.
