To provide a gravure drawdown machine and a doctor blade grinding method whereby the contact face of the edge of a doctor blade obtained by grinding is made to conform with a plate face used actually and a drawdown sample of high accuracy can be obtained, without changing a contact angle and a contact area with time.

The gravure drawdown machine has a system wherein a head part equipped with an impression cylinder and the doctor blade runs on a flat bed part holding the plate face of a flat-bed gravure plate and scrapes off the surplus ink on the plate face, while transferring ink onto a printing object between the plate face and the impression cylinder so as to conduct printing. The machine has a grindstone so provided that the grinding surface thereof is on the same plane as the plate face and an adjusting mechanism which adjusts the height of the grinding surface of the grindstone, on the flat bed part being off the plate face.
