A hand-held adhesive segment applicator 50 is provided for use with a carrier release tape having an adhesive segment 54. The hand-held applicator 50 includes an adhesive tape feed wheel 56, on which a roll of the carrier release tape having the adhesive segment 54 is mounted. The hand-held applicator 50 also includes a take-up core system operatively engaged to the adhesive tape feed wheel 56 for automatically advancing and positioning the carrier release tape having the adhesive segment 54.
