In a method for manufacturing a hard coat film roll which is obtained by winding a hard coat film having a hard coat layer on one surface of a substrate film having a thickness of 20-55 μm and having a center line average surface roughness Rah in the hard coat film surface of 0.2-2.0 nm and a center line average surface roughness Ras in the other surface of 1.0-5.0 nm, no protection film is provided between the overlapping hard coat films in the roll, a touch roll is not substantially used in the winding, and after winding up the roll in winding conditions of a winding tension of 40-110 N/m and winding rate of 10-40 m/min., the roll is held for 1-10 minutes while keeping the winding tension at 40-110 N/m.
