To provide a heat generating and heat insulating pressure frame casting pit brick which has heat retaining properties, sinterability in residual dross and low hygroscopic properties by imparting both characteristics of heat generation properties and heat insulation properties thereto.
The heat generating and heat insulating type pressure frame brick consists of a stock obtained by adding metallic Al and a combustion accelerating material to heat insulating type brick components essentially consisting of SiO2. The heat generating and heat insulating pressure frame brick consists of the stock having chemical components of, by mass, 10 to 14% metallic Al, 10 to 14% Al2O3, 53 to 63% SiO2, a 3 to 8% combustion accelerating material and a 4 to 12% organic matter, and has a bulk specific gravity of 0.8 to 1.0, deflective strength of 6 to 16 kg/cm2, a heating value of 1,200 to 1,600 cal/gr and a water content of <1% as physical values. The brick has excellent low hygroscopic properties as shown in the figure 1.
