PURPOSE: To provide a heat insulation method capable of efficiently heat insulating a final solidified part of a large cross sectional continuously cast bloom.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of obtaining the large cross sectional continuously cast bloom, the drawing-out of the cast bloom 2 is stopped after completing the pouring of molten metal into an assemble type mold 1, and the mold 1 is opened after a solidified shell of the molten steel is formed without causing a breakout. A frame body 3 having the heat insulation efficiency is arranged around the finally solidified part 2a in the cast bloom, and is shifted in the direction to close the opened mold 1 so as to press-hold the outer wall of the frame body 3 and the heat of the surroundings of the finally solidified part 2a of the cast bloom is held with the frame body 3 interposed between the inner wall of the mold 1 and the side surface of the last solidified part 2a of the cast bloom.
