To prevent a rush current at the time of turning on a heater worsening of power-factor, generation of a high frequency current, and occurrence of flicker, and to enhance the reliability and miniaturize a driving device, by driving the heater by means of AC.
In this device, when a drive signal is input to a heater drive controlling signal input terminal 5, the AC current inputted from AC input terminals 1, is inputted to a rectifier unit 4 through a heater lamp 2 via a filter 3. The AC current being outputted from the rectifier unit 4 is supplied to a controlling circuit 7 and a power FET 8. The controlling circuit 7 drives the power FET 8 by arbitrary frequency or arbitrary duty, and the power FET 8 performs switching the DC current rectified by the rectifier unit 4. As for respective output of the power FET 8 and the rectifier unit 4, the DC current being made switching is allowed to flow however, the AC current is allowed to flow to the heater lamp 2. An arc suppressor 9 protects FET 8 from high voltage generated at the switching time of the FET 8.
