Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate problems, i.e., an ununiformity of roll surface profile caused by a prior art abrasive process, a reduction of productivity, and a local abnormality in surface properties caused by abrasive chips, occurring in a high- center elastic roll.
CONSTITUTION: On a periphery of a cylindrical roll body 10 made of an elastic body, a coating layer 30 is integrally provided so as to have the largest thickness at the axially center part of the roll body and gradually decrease in thickness toward both ends thereof. In this manner, a roll can continuously increase in diameter from each end thereof in an axial direction toward the center part.
