Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin, having a prescribed numberaverage molecular weight or above, composed of specific structural units, excellent in curability, moldability and physical properties and useful as fiber-reinforced plastics, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin is expressed by the formula (G is glycol component residue in which >=50mol% glycol is neopentyl glycol and the other is alpha-glycol; m is 1-9; n is 1; M is a number in which the number-average molecular weight corresponds to >=5000). The number-average molecular weight thereof is >=5000. Furthermore, the aforementioned resin is obtained by esterifying maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, etc., with neopentyl glycol, etc., until the acid value of an unsaturated polyester attains <=15, adding a catalyst such as tetrabutyl titanate for glycol removing reaction, carrying out the glycol removing reaction under a reduced pressure of <=1Torr and blending the prepared polymer with a copolymerizable monomer such as styrene.
