Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin, having a prescribed number-average molecular weight or above, composed of specific structural units, excellent in curability, moldability and physical properties and useful as fiber-reinforced plastics, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin is expressed by the formula (G is glycol component residue in which 50 or more mol% glycol is neopentyl glycol and the other is alpha-glycol; m is a; n is 1-9; M is a number in which the number- average molecular weight corresponds to 5000 or more). The number-average molecular weight thereof is 5000 or more. Furthermore, the aforementioned resin is obtained by esterifying maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, etc., with neopentyl glycol, etc., until the acid value of an unsaturated polyester attains 15 or less, adding a catalyst such as tetrabutyl titanate for glycol removing reaction, carrying out the glycol removing reaction under a reduced pressure of preferably 1Torr or less and blending the resultant polymer with a copolymerizable monomer such as styrene.
