Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously satisfy the high adsorption rates, high adsorption capacity and high mechanical strength of a porous non-evaporable getter material.
SOLUTION: A powdery mixture of the powder of a metallic getter element of about <70 μm particle size, the powder of one or more kinds among getter alloys of about <40 μm particle size and organic compd. powder having the properties of being in a solid stage at room temp. and decomposed into sublimated or gaseous products when being exposed to the air or in the period of the following heat treatment without leaving residues and having two parts in which the particle in the 1st part have about <50 μm particle size, the particles in the 2nd part have the particle size of about 50 to 150 μm, an the weight ratio between the 1st part and the 2nd part is (4:1) to (1:4) is formed. This powdery mixture is compressed under <1000 Kg/cm2, next, this compressed mixture is sintered at 900 to 1200°C for 5 min to 1 hr in a vacuum or inert gas. In this way, the non-evaporable getter improved in the points of porosity, gas adsorption rates and capacity can be produced.
