Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the Al alloy having high strength suitable for a tube joint of an Al heat exchanger and executable of thinning by adding specified amounts of Zn, Mg, Mn, Si and Cu to Al or furthermore adding Ti, Zr or the like thereto and executing alloying.

CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy contg., by weight, 3 to 5% Zn, 0.15 to <0.5% Mg, 0.8 to 1.2% Mn, 0.3 to 0.9% Si and 0.15 to 0.45% Cu or furthermore contg. one or both of 0.01 to 0.1% Ti and 0.01 to 0.15% Zr is prepd., by which the Al alloy having high strength, excellent in pitting corrosion resistance as well and therefore suitable as a tube joint for an Al heat exchanger can be obtd.
