Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a hot-pressed silica composite material having excellent mechanical strength, heat and sound insulating properties in practical use and useful as a building material without using cement.
CONSTITUTION: A mixed molding material contg. at least one of an aq. monomeric silica soln. and a polymeric silica sol as starting material for silica, a filler such as silica sand or woody chips and a hardening accelerator such as sodium silicofluoride is molded into a prescribed shape and size with a molding tool and the resulting molded body is hardened by hot pressing at 150-200°C.
