PURPOSE: To effectively utilize heating of a hot water storage tank with heat of combustion gas by composing the tank in a hot water supply passage in a discharge gas collecting chamber, attaching a temperature sensor to the tank, and controlling the combustion of a burner in response to the output of the sensor.
CONSTITUTION: When a burner 6 is burned, water in a hot water supply passage 2 is heated to become hot in a heat exchanger 8. A hot water storage tank 4 is composed in the passage 2 in a discharge gas collecting chamber 3, the heat of the high temperature burning gas externally fed from a cylinder 9 via the chamber 3 is utilized to heat the tank 4. In case of using a hot water heater 1, a combustion controller 7 is set to an operating state, the gas is generated by a turner 6 while detecting the output of a temperature sensor 5 attached to the tank 4, the tank 4 is heated, and hot water therein is set to a desired value. When the faucet 11 of a hot water outlet 10 is opened, hot water of desired temperature of large quantity in the tank 4 is immediately discharged from the faucet 11.
