To effectively utilize a space between a roof and a ceiling and to render variety to a ceiling by a method wherein a part of the ceiling is notched and a room is built on the ceiling, in a housing having a ceiling below a gabble roof.

A part of a ceiling 4 of a living room 2 at a second story is notched to form a notch part 41, and the back of a roof 3 is directly watched from the living room 2 through the notch part 41. A vertical wall 43 having height reaching a middle part below a ridge part 31 of the roof 3 is erected on a storage room 42 built above the ceiling 4 and things in the storage room 42 are prevented from falling to the living room 2 through the notch part 41 by the vertical wall 43. Thereafter, a part of the ceiling 4 is notched to form the notch part 41 and the storage room 42 is built on the ceiling 4, whereby a space between the roof 3 and the ceiling 4 is effectively utilized, and the notch part 41 is seen from the living room 2 below the ceiling 4 to render variety to the ceiling 4.
