To provide a metallic separator for a fuel cell that is capable of preventing an insulating cover mounted on the outer peripheral edges of separators from being cut, without increasing the thickness of an insulating member, and a method for producing the fuel cell.
A material plate 10A is press molded by use of a die to form a gas flow passage 11. As the die is clamped, the outer peripheral edge of the material plate 10A is trimmed. Cells 22 each comprising electrode structures 20 sandwiched between separators 10 thus manufactured are stacked one on top of another, with the outer peripheral edge of each separator 10 serving as a reference, and the outer peripheral edges of the separators 10 are covered with the insulating cover 40 so as to assemble a fuel-cell stack.
