Abstract:
A hydrogel is provided which retains high transparency, is superior to conventional ones in elasticity and strength, and has durability imparted thereto. Also provided is a process for producing the hydrogel. The hydrogel has an interpenetrating network structure comprising a first network structure (A) formed by crosslinking and polymerizing first monomers (a) and, formed in the first network structure (A), a second network structure (B) obtained by introducing a second monomer (b) into the first network structure (A) and polymerizing and crosslinking the second monomer (b). The first monomers (a) comprise a nonionic unsaturated monomer (a1) and an anionic unsaturated monomer (a2).
