Abstract:
The card reader (LC) connects to the parallel printer port (CO1) of a personal computer. The cable (CA1) connects the reader to the computer. The cable connector at the card reader allows a second cable to be tapped from the first cable. The second cable (CA2) is connected to a printer (IMP). The card reader intercepts signals from the microcomputer and if they are not signals to validate card reading passes the signals on to the printer. The card reader has an internal circuit that identifies the validating signal. The card reader does not have its own microprocessor; the microcomputer is programmed to exchange data with the reader under a protocol adapted to the reader. The microcomputer uses the validation signal to accept transferred data.
