PURPOSE: To feed a weft such as foil, film or other flat yarn in a tension-free state.

CONSTITUTION: The characteristic of this weft-feeding device of a loom comprises disposing a pair of holed fittings 23, 24 at an interval at the tip of an arm 20, passing a foil 3, film or other weft through the holed fittings 23, 24, respectively, engaging a hook 21 with the weft between the holed fittings 23, 24, transmitting and connecting an arm-driving mechanism to the arm 20, driving the arm 20 to move between the first and second positions, separating the holed fittings 23, 24 apart from the hook 21 at a constant distance at the first position, disposing the holed fittings 23, 24 at the position of the hook 21 at the second position, transmitting a hook-driving mechanism to the hook 21, moving the arm 20 to the first position, moving back the hook 21 from a weft-engaging position to separate the hook 21 from the weft when a weft is stored between the fittings 23, 24 and the hook, and moving forward the hook 21 to the weft-engaging position to engage the hook with the weft when the arm 20 is moved to the second position.
