An ignition apparatus for a gas generator (1) of an airbag module includes an igniter (3) to ignite the gas generator (1) according to an ignition signal, and further includes: an early-time ignition set (4) for igniting the gas generator (1) independent of the ignition signal during heat supply; a housing portion (25) for housing the early-time ignition set (4); and a volume adjustment means (5); wherein those are disposed in the housing portion (25) together with the early-time ignition set (4). As to this, the volume adjustment means (5) includes a fabric formed of an electrically conductive material.
